Boosting my electricity supply via pedal power

We run entirely on solar power (off-grid) , with plans to include a wind turbine into our system. I want to use my exercise time to add power to my 24V batteries, particularly on cloudy days. I'm interested in hammer pumps. Easy to make and virtually maintenance free. If you drop water 3 metres, it will return it to 9 metres up. So with 3 tanks and a hydro generator between I and two...

Also, Jean Pain Composting for heat and methane generating is starting to catch on in the US. I've done it. Recommend it.

MMMM Must explore these ideas more. Sam is always raving about soring water in tall skinny towers is that the same thing?
But I think you have to be some kind of tinkerer with skills and time to get these things happening. I wish it were me. I wish I were a gnome.
